Camilo Pérez Arrau

I received the BS degree in Geography at the Universidad Católica, Chile, and I am certificated in Geological Risks from the University de Genève, Switzerland. I have a MS degree in Urban Planning and GIS at the Université de Québec à Montréal, Canada.

My main research interest is on natural risk management. Some significant dangers related to this area are heat waves, cold waves, floods, earthquakes, landslides, tsunamis, typhoons and avalanches. I'm very interested in "el niño" and "la niña" phenomena and their consequences on populations.

Natural hazards and climate change are bigs concerns for me. Issues like lost of urban vegetation, urban sprawl, increase of air and water pollution and development of sustainable transport plans are some important challenges for me as well.

Presently, I am working as a GIS Consultant/Business Developper for my own firm AustralGIS (https://www.australgis.com/)

Marco A. Peña

I received the BS degree in Geography and the MS degree in Environmental Planning from the Universidad de Chile, Chile. My past research was focused on the assessment of the urban heat island effect of Santiago, Chile, by using remotely sensed thermal data.

Currently, I apply optical and thermal remote sensing on a variety of phenomena involving empirical-statistical modelling by using high dimensional feature sets (either, hyperspectral or multitemporal). I'm Director of Undergraduate Studies and lecturer in the Department of Geography, Universidad Alberto Hurtado, Santiago, Chile, and Doctoral student at Friedrich Schiller Universität, Jena, Germany.
